How Prepared are You?

Looking at the weather, I was going to have a 50/50 chance of rain on my run. But if it did rain, it was supposed to be light. So, I got up, ate, stretched, put on my running gear, and right when I went to open the door to leave, cue the rain. And it was not light…Initial thought was “Shoot!” but I’d gotten up early and went through my whole morning routine, so I was not about to skip out. I threw on my rain jacket and took off. And guess what? It was fine. A little water never hurt anyone 😂 If you prepare, you’re way more likely to stick to the run when something doesn’t go your way. I had all my gear on. I had done all the prep for that run. I was stretched and ready to go. I was not about to let that all go to waste. It reminded me of putting on the Armor of God. Ephesians says we need to be prepared for anything the devil may throw our way. To do this, we need to put on the Armor of God. If we prepare right, we are more likely to get through the battle, whatever that may be. My favorite of the items is the one offensive we have. The Word of God. Are you reading the Bible consistently? Do you know what He says about you? Do you know how much He loves you? Put His words to heart and whatever comes your way, fight back with that truth.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17
