Cushion

ree

I’ve been running in the same pair of shoes for a year now and there’s a few miles in my typical route that’s over gravel. Lately I have come home sore because I could feel every single rock digging into my feet like I was running barefoot. You can probably guess it’s because there is zero cushion left in my shoes.

Today I ran in a brand new pair and what a difference it makes! The new shoes didn’t avoid the gravel, I still ran on it, could see it, hear it under my shoes, and feel it, but it provided a cushion that protected me from the sharpness of the pain.

Jesus is our cushion. He doesn’t put us in a box where we’ll be protected from pain, quite the opposite. He says, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬) But just like the shoes, when we walk through difficult situations or seasons, He is there with us as a cushion. He provides comfort, peace, and hope. He is with us and is present in every situation. Life is so much sweeter and hopeful with Him in it. We have a purpose and know there is more to come. We do not grieve like world does (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14).

If you don’t know Him, don’t wait. Don’t let your shoes get completely worn out before you start searching. As we celebrate Jesus’ birth, if you’re looking for a place to go, check out www.live.life.church.

Merry Christmas 💛 Jesus loves you. He was born to take your place and He longs to be the cushion you lean on.
