Running in the summer heat is not my favorite. Give me 50’s and below any day over 80 degrees! But it does make me appreciate the wind and any shade I can come by. I left for a run yesterday morning, 6:45am and already 81 degrees. I looked at the sky and there were two big clouds and that’s it. I thought I’d be able to get some shade for at least ten minutes to kick off the run, and I was grateful for what I could get. But the longer I ran, the more clouds seemed to be coming out of nowhere, stopping right in front of the sun. Let me tell you…I’ve never been more thankful for the shade! My entire run was covered. The picture above is how I ended the run. I wish I had a before and after!
I saw God in every bit of that. I love looking for Him when I run, and He always shows up. It looks different all the time, but yesterday, it came in the form of shade. Placing those clouds right where I’d hope they’d be, I knew He was telling me, “I see you, and I know you.” Psalms 56:8 says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” God cares about everything. Every tear you have, every desire in your heart, big or small, He knows, and He cares. There’s nothing smaller than hoping for cloud cover on a run, and yet I know He cared about that. He knew I’d be looking for Him and He gave me a little glimpse of His heart for me that day.
When people notice the small things in our lives, there’s a different kind of relationship and love that comes from it. We expect people to notice the big things, but there’s something different and special when they see the small. That’s God. He loves you, He sees you, He’s a master at noticing the small things, and He’s walking right beside you. Are you looking?
Very inspirational, Julie… Needed to hear it, thank you!
